Documents Required for Philippines Visa, Indians Complete Checklist 2026
The Philippines e-visa has one of the shortest document lists of any visa available to Indian travelers. You do not need a bank statement, salary slip, ITR, employer letter, cover letter, or sponsor declaration. The application asks for seven things and most take seconds. The one item that requires real preparation is the photo, Philippines’s portal automatically rejects grey backgrounds, and Indian studios use grey by default.

Complete Document Checklist
-
Indian passport — valid 6+ months beyond intended stayMust be valid for at least 6 months from your Philippines departure date (not arrival date). Must have at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Damage, loose pages, or faded bio-data page can cause secondary screening.
-
eTravel QR Code — mandatory, free, from etravel.gov.ph Most CriticalRegister at etravel.gov.ph within 72 hours before your arrival. Free. Generates a QR code by email and on-screen. Show to airline at check-in and to immigration officer at Philippine airport. Without it you may face delays at immigration. Takes 10 minutes to complete.
-
Return or onward flight ticket — confirmed Most CriticalMust show you plan to leave the Philippines within your authorized stay (14 days for standard visa-free, 30 days for AJACSSUK). The immigration officer checks this. Have it accessible on your phone before joining the immigration queue.
-
Confirmed hotel booking for full stay (14-day visa-free) Most CriticalRequired for the 14-day visa-free entry — specifically mentioned in the June 2025 Philippine government policy announcement. Booking.com or Agoda confirmation on phone. If staying with friends or relatives, have their complete address and contact number. For AJACSSUK 30-day entry, hotel booking is recommended but not explicitly required.
-
Proof of financial capacity Most CriticalPhilippine immigration expects travelers to demonstrate they can support themselves during their stay. Show bank app with Rs 50,000+ or a credit card with a clear available limit. The June 2025 policy announcement specifically lists this as a requirement for the 14-day visa-free entry.
-
AJACSSUK visa (for 30-day entry) — valid and not expiredIf claiming the 30-day visa-free entry, your US, Japan, Australia, Canada, Schengen, Singapore, or UK visa must be valid (not expired) at the time of Philippines entry. The visa must be currently valid — it cannot be an expired visa you previously held. Single-entry visas that have already been used do not qualify.
Unlike Schengen or UK visa applications, Philippines’s e-visa does not require any of the following:
- Visa for stays up to 14 days — visa-free since June 8, 2025
- Visa fee — no fee for visa-free 14-day or AJACSSUK 30-day entry
- Embassy visit for 14-day or 30-day stays
- Bank statement printout — bank app on phone is sufficient
- ITR or salary slip — not required for visa-free entry
- Employment letter or NOC — not required
- Travel insurance — recommended but not required
- Invitation letter — not required for visa-free tourist entry
What the Portal Checks Automatically
| Item | What It Checks | Most Common Mistake | Fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo background | Pixel colour value of background | Grey from Indian studios, auto-rejected | Use remove.bg before uploading |
| Full name | Character-by-character match vs passport | Omitting middle name or using initials | Copy from passport bio-data page |
| Passport number | Format and character accuracy | O vs 0, I vs 1 confusion | Copy character by character |
| Passport expiry | 6+ months beyond entry date | Passport expiring within 6 months | Renew before applying |
| File sizes | Both files under 2MB | High-res scans exceeding limit | Compress at ilovepdf.com |
| File format | JPEG for photo, JPEG or PDF for passport | iPhone users uploading HEIC format | Convert to JPEG before uploading |
How to Prepare Each Document Correctly
Getting the photo right (most important step)
Go to remove.bg on your phone or computer. Upload your existing passport photo. The tool replaces the background with white in about 10 seconds. Download the JPEG result. Zoom in on the corners and hairline, check there are no grey patches. Save as JPEG under 2MB. This single step eliminates the most common cause of Indian rejections.
Scanning your passport correctly
Download Adobe Scan or Microsoft Lens (both free). These apps handle document scanning far better than your regular camera app, they auto-correct perspective and enhance contrast. Open your passport flat on a hard surface in good daylight. Scan in document mode, not photo mode. After scanning, zoom in on the MRZ zone at the very bottom of the bio-data page and verify each character is sharp and individually readable. Save as JPEG or PDF under 2MB.
Does your employment status change any of this?
No. The Philippines e-visa form does not ask about your employment, income, or professional background at any point. The checklist above applies identically to salaried employees, freelancers, business owners, homemakers, students, retired persons, and NRIs. Every applicant submits the same documents.

Common Mistakes Philippines Travelers Wish They Had Known
Booking non-refundable flights before getting visa approval. The e-visa takes Instant on arrival but can extend during Vietnamese public holidays. Always wait for the approval email before booking flights you cannot cancel.
Using a travel agent for the e-visa. Agents in India charge Rs 3,000 to Rs 8,000 to fill a 15-minute form available at the official portal for Rs 0. The visa you receive is identical. Apply at https://newdelhipe.dfa.gov.ph/ directly.
Printing only one copy of the approval letter. You need it at two points: the check-in counter at the Indian airport, and Philippines immigration on arrival. Print two copies and carry both.
Arriving at the airport with only a phone screen. Some immigration counters in Philippines do not accept phone screens. Physical printed copies are always accepted. Print before you leave home.
Choosing the wrong entry type. Single entry (Rs 0) is right for a Vietnam-only trip. Multiple entry (check visa types table for Philippines fee) is needed if you plan to exit to Cambodia or Laos and return. Confirm which you need before paying.
