Singapore requires a visa for all Indian ordinary passport holders. There is no Visa on Arrival, no visa-free entry, and no option to apply directly at the High Commission. Every Indian tourist must apply through an ICA-authorised visa agent, pay the Rs 2,100 government fee plus the Rs 1,000 agent service charge, and wait 3 to 5 working days for approval. The visa is then issued as an electronic PDF — the old sticker visa in your passport is gone. From 1 January 2026, the Singapore Consulate-General in Mumbai fixed the government fee at Rs 2,100 per application. This is the figure to use for all 2026 planning. The good news: Singapore Visa approval rates for Indians are high when the application is complete and documents are genuine. The key mistakes that cause rejections and delays are well documented — this guide covers all of them. It also covers the SG Arrival Card (mandatory free digital form before arrival), the 96-hour transit facility for Indians transiting through Changi, and the real total cost of a Singapore Trip from India.

Documents Required for Singapore Visa
-
✓
Indian passport — valid 6+ months from entry date, 2 blank pages
Must be valid for at least 6 months from your Singapore arrival date. Must have at least 2 completely blank pages for immigration stamps. Old passports with previous Singapore visas or travel history should also be submitted alongside your current passport — this strengthens your application.
-
✓
Two recent passport-size photographs Most Critical
White background, taken within last 3 months. Size 35mm x 45mm. Face must fill 70 to 80 percent of the frame. No glasses, no hats, neutral expression. ICA photo guidelines are strict — non-compliant photos are a common rejection reason. Have them taken at a professional photo studio, not a selfie booth.
-
✓
Completed Form 14A — Singapore visa application form Most Critical
Download from ICA website or get from your visa agent. Fill accurately in English. Sign the form. Every detail must match your passport exactly. Your agent will verify and submit this electronically. Common errors: middle name omitted, DOB format wrong, employment details inconsistent with bank statements.
-
✓
Confirmed return or onward flight ticket Most Critical
Shows you have a booked departure from Singapore. Confirmed status — not just a booking hold. Singapore immigration wants to see you intend to leave before your authorized stay expires. Submit this with your visa application and carry it when traveling.
-
✓
Hotel booking confirmation for full stay
Booking for your complete Singapore trip. Booking.com or Agoda confirmation is accepted. If staying with friends or family in Singapore, a Letter of Introduction (Form V39A) from your host is needed instead. Your host must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident aged 21 or above with a valid Singpass account.
-
✓
Last 6 months bank statements Most Critical
Printed bank statements showing regular salary credits and a healthy balance. The minimum amount varies — commonly Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000 is considered comfortable for a 5 to 7 day Singapore trip. Bank statements must be stamped or printed on official bank letterhead. Screenshots of banking apps are not accepted — must be printed statements.
-
✓
Proof of employment (for salaried applicants)
Last 3 months salary slips plus your employee ID card or employment letter stating designation, salary, and employment date. Alternatively an employment letter on company letterhead signed by HR. Must be consistent with your bank statement salary credits.
-
✓
Income Tax Return (ITR) for last 2 years
ITR acknowledgement for the last 2 assessment years. Significantly strengthens your application by demonstrating stable income. Not mandatory in all cases but strongly recommended for first-time applicants. Self-employed applicants should submit business registration documents and GST returns in place of salary slips.
What You Do NOT Need
Unlike Schengen or UK visa applications, Singapore’s e-visa does not require:
- Visa on arrival — not available for Indian passport holders at all
- Direct application at High Commission — agents only, no walk-ins accepted
- Travel insurance certificate — recommended but not required
- Hotel booking if staying with Singapore-resident family (use Form V39A instead)
- NOC from employer for employees — employment letter suffices
- Property documents — sometimes submitted for stronger profiles but not mandatory
Why Singapore Visa Gets Rejected for Indians , Every Cause and Fix
1
Incomplete or inconsistent documents , Most common reason
Why it happens for Indians: The Singapore visa application requires multiple documents across several categories. The most common issue is inconsistency — bank statement salary doesn’t match the salary slip amount, the employment letter date doesn’t match the employment history, or the Form 14A details don’t match the passport. ICA cross-references all submitted documents. Any inconsistency triggers rejection.
Fix: Before submission, cross-check every document against every other document. Name must match exactly across all. Salary in bank statement must match salary slip. Employment dates must be consistent. Your visa agent should do this check — but verify yourself too.
2
Weak financial documentation , Second most common reason
Why it happens for Indians: Printed bank statements showing irregular income, very low balances, or sudden large deposits shortly before application raise red flags. Singapore wants to see stable, regular income over at least 6 months. A bank balance of Rs 20,000 for a Singapore trip budgeted at Rs 70,000 to Rs 1,00,000 looks inconsistent.
Fix: Submit 6 months of bank statements. Ensure your balance before application is healthy — Rs 1,00,000+ is comfortable for a 5 to 7 day trip. If you received salary or income in your account regularly, that pattern is what ICA looks for. Do not make sudden large cash deposits just before applying.
3
Non-compliant photograph , Common technical rejection
Why it happens for Indians: ICA photo requirements are stricter than most countries. The specific requirement for face to fill 70 to 80 percent of frame, pure white background, no shadows, and no glasses trips up many applicants. Phone camera selfies and self-printed photos frequently fail.
Fix: Get your photographs taken at a professional studio. Tell them it is for a Singapore visa application. Ask them to check the ICA specifications. Two photos. 35mm x 45mm. White background. No glasses. Taken within the last 3 months.
4
No ties to India — risk of overstay , Common for younger unmarried applicants
Why it happens for Indians: ICA assesses whether the applicant has strong reasons to return to India. Young, unmarried, unemployed or recently resigned applicants with no family ties and weak financials look like overstay risks. Singapore is strict about this because it is a popular destination for undocumented work.
Fix: Demonstrate ties to India in your application. Stable employment with a good salary, property ownership, family in India, and previous international travel with clean visa history all strengthen your profile. A cover letter explaining your purpose and ties to India is strongly recommended for first-time applicants.
5
Unauthorized or fraudulent visa agent , Occasional but consequential
Why it happens for Indians: Many unauthorized agents in India advertise Singapore visa services and either submit incorrect applications or charge for services they cannot provide. Applications submitted by unauthorized agents are rejected, and the Rs 2,100 fee is non-refundable.
Fix: Only use agents listed on the official ICA authorized agent list. The list for Delhi is on new-delhi.mfa.gov.sg. For Mumbai: mumbai.mfa.gov.sg. Verify the agent before paying. An authorized agent can show their ICA authorization code.
6
Applying too late — less than 2 weeks before travel , Common planning error
Why it happens for Indians: Standard processing is 3 to 5 working days but some applications take longer. Applying a week before travel with insufficient buffer for delays results in missed trips and non-refundable visa fees.
Fix: Apply at least 30 days before your travel date per ICA guidelines. At minimum, apply 3 to 4 weeks before your flight. Do not book non-refundable flights before your visa is approved.
Reapplication costs another Rs 2,100
The fee is non-refundable whether your application is approved or rejected. Every rejection cause above is preventable in under 5 minutes of preparation before you open the form. Do not skip the photo background check.
How to Apply for Singapore Visa from India , Step by Step
1
Choose an ICA-authorized visa agent
This is non-negotiable — you cannot apply directly at the Singapore High Commission or online through the ICA portal yourself. Go to new-delhi.mfa.gov.sg (for North India residents) or mumbai.mfa.gov.sg (for West India residents) or the relevant Singapore mission website for your state. Find the list of authorized visa agents and choose one. Well-known authorized agents include VFS Global, Akbar Travels, Thomas Cook, Cox and Kings, and MakeMyTrip. Call the agent before visiting to confirm they are currently authorized and get a list of documents they require.
2
Gather all documents — completeness is critical
Before contacting your agent, collect: your current passport (and old passports if available), 2 recent white-background passport photos, completed Form 14A (download from ICA website), confirmed return flight ticket, hotel booking confirmation or Form V39A from Singapore host, last 6 months printed and stamped bank statements, last 3 months salary slips, employment letter on company letterhead, and last 2 ITR acknowledgements. Cross-check all documents for consistency — name, salary, employment dates, and travel dates must be consistent across all.
3
Submit application through the authorized agent
Visit the authorized agent’s office or submit online through their portal (agents handle the ICA online submission on your behalf). Pay the Rs 2,100 government fee plus the Rs 1,000 agent service charge. Total: Rs 3,100 minimum. Get a written receipt itemizing each fee. Get an application reference number for tracking. The agent verifies your documents, fills the online ICA application, and submits to ICA. ICA begins processing from the day after submission.
4
Track your application and wait 3 to 5 working days
Your agent will track application status and notify you. Standard processing: 3 to 5 working days excluding day of submission, weekends, and public holidays. Some applications take longer if ICA requests additional documents. Do not contact the agent daily — most agents proactively update when the visa is approved. If it is approaching 7 working days with no update, contact your agent to check status.
5
Receive e-Visa PDF and verify details
Singapore visa is issued as an electronic PDF — no sticker in passport. Your agent sends it by email. Print a color copy to carry when traveling. Verify: your name (exactly as passport), passport number, validity dates, and entry type (single or multiple). If any detail is wrong, contact your agent immediately for correction before traveling. The visa is linked electronically to your passport number.
6
Submit SG Arrival Card within 3 days before arrival
All visitors must complete the free SG Arrival Card at eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard within 3 days before arrival. It combines your immigration details and health declaration. Fill it online and you receive a confirmation email. No QR code to print — immigration sees it automatically when they scan your passport at Changi. Takes about 5 minutes.
7
At Changi Airport — immigration clearance
At Changi immigration: hand over your passport and e-Visa printout. The officer scans your passport and sees the visa and SG Arrival Card automatically in the system. They stamp your passport and you receive an e-Pass notification by email showing your authorized stay period. The authorized stay period (typically 14 to 30 days) is determined by the immigration officer at the checkpoint — it is not necessarily the full validity of your visa.

Hidden Costs Most Indians Miss
Universal Studios and Sentosa Island entry fees
Universal Studios Singapore: Rs 5,500 per adult. Sentosa SEA Aquarium: Rs 3,000. Beach Club Sentosa: covers entry plus F&B. A full Sentosa day for two adults easily costs Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 including transport, food, and entry. Budget separately if Sentosa is on your itinerary.
Singapore is genuinely expensive for food
Hawker centre meals: Rs 350 to Rs 600 per dish. Casual restaurants: Rs 800 to Rs 1,500 per person. Mid-range restaurant for two: Rs 4,000 to Rs 8,000. Singapore is significantly more expensive than KL, Bangkok, or Bali for food. Budget Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,500 per person per day minimum for food.
Changi Jewel and airport shopping
Changi Airport’s Jewel complex is a major tourist attraction with the world’s largest indoor waterfall. The Rain Vortex is free to see. But the shopping, food, and entertainment inside cost money. Budget Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 if you plan to spend time in Changi Jewel beyond the waterfall viewpoint.
MRT airport to city transport
MRT from Changi Airport to central Singapore (City Hall, Orchard) costs approximately Rs 130 to Rs 180. A taxi or Grab for the same journey costs Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500. The MRT is fast (30 to 35 minutes to Orchard), air-conditioned, and the obvious choice. For a couple, the MRT saves Rs 2,400 to Rs 4,600 compared to a taxi for airport transfers alone.
Singapore dollar exchange rates
Singapore dollars are not freely available in India. Exchange rates at Indian airports are poor. Use a zero-forex card (Niyo Global, IDFC FIRST WOW) for all Singapore spending and withdraw SGD from Singapore ATMs near your hotel where rates are competitive. This saves Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000 on a Rs 70,000 Singapore trip.
Gardens by the Bay Flower Dome and Cloud Forest entry
The outdoor Supertree Grove area of Gardens by the Bay is free. The Flower Dome and Cloud Forest conservatories are paid entry: approximately Rs 1,900 per adult combined. Both are worth visiting but budget separately. The free outdoor light show at 7:45 PM and 8:45 PM nightly is excellent.
Money-Saving Tips for Singapore from India
1
Fly on Scoot or IndiGo — not Singapore Airlines for Singapore on a budget
Singapore Airlines and SIA subsidiary SilkAir charge Rs 8,000 to Rs 15,000 more per person than Scoot for the same Delhi-SIN or Mumbai-SIN route. Scoot is owned by Singapore Airlines — same Changi airport, different terminal (Terminal 1 for SIA, Terminal 2 for Scoot). Return fares on Scoot from India start at Rs 12,000 booked 6 to 8 weeks ahead. IndiGo also operates on some India-SIN routes competitively.
2
Stay in Little India or Bugis — not Orchard Road
Hotels on Orchard Road charge Rs 7,000 to Rs 15,000 per night. Equivalent quality in Little India (Mustafa area) or Bugis costs Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000 per night. Both are central and on the MRT. For a 5-night Singapore trip, staying in Little India instead of Orchard saves Rs 20,000 to Rs 45,000 on accommodation alone. Little India also has the most authentic and cheapest Indian food in Singapore.
3
Eat at hawker centres — not Marina Bay restaurants
Chicken rice, laksa, or char kway teow at a hawker centre: Rs 300 to Rs 500. Same type of food at a Marina Bay Sands restaurant: Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,000. Maxwell Food Centre, Lau Pa Sat, and Old Airport Road hawker centre are three of the best in Singapore. One hawker meal per day saves Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 per person per trip.
4
Use the MRT everywhere — never taxis
Singapore MRT covers virtually every tourist destination. Adult fare: Rs 90 to Rs 200 per journey. Grab from Orchard to Marina Bay: Rs 600 to Rs 1,200. MRT for the same: Rs 120. For a couple making 4 journeys daily over 5 days, the difference is Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000. Buy a Singapore Tourist Pass (Rs 900 for 3 days unlimited MRT) if you plan to move around a lot.
5
Apply for visa early to avoid express fees
Standard Singapore visa processing through an authorised agent costs Rs 3,100 total. Express processing claims 24 to 48 hour delivery but costs Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000. Apply 3 to 4 weeks before your trip and the standard processing time (3 to 5 working days) is never a problem. Express fees are entirely avoidable with good planning.
6
Use a zero-forex card for all Singapore spending
Standard Indian card: 1 to 3.5% forex markup per transaction. On a Rs 67,000 Singapore trip that is Rs 670 to Rs 2,345 in fees. Niyo Global and IDFC FIRST WOW have zero forex markup. Both are free to set up and work at all Singapore ATMs and card terminals.
7
Gardens by the Bay outdoor section is free
The Supertree Grove, Heritage Gardens, and Dragonfly Lake at Gardens by the Bay are completely free to enter and explore. The famous Supertree light show at 7:45 PM and 8:45 PM nightly is also free — just show up. The paid Flower Dome and Cloud Forest conservatories are optional but worth Rs 1,900 each per adult. Many visitors skip the conservatories and still have an excellent Gardens experience for Rs 0.

February (outside Chinese New Year week) and October to November are the best months for Indians visiting Singapore — good weather, no F1 pricing, reasonable hotel rates, and meaningful local events. Deepavali in October or November makes Little India particularly worth visiting. Avoid September (F1) unless attending the race.
Indian summer school holidays (May-June) coincide with Singapore’s wet season but Singapore is an almost entirely indoor destination — world-class malls, museums, hawker centres, and attraction are air-conditioned. Wet weather does not significantly impact a Singapore trip. The bigger concern during Indian school holidays is hotel prices: hotels in the tourist areas cost Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 more per night during Indian summer holidays. Book well in advance and consider staying in Little India where school-holiday price spikes are less severe.
What Happens When You Land , Singapore Immigration
Changi Airport has automated e-Gates for passport holders from select countries — Indians typically use the manual immigration counter. Hand over passport and e-Visa printout. Officer scans passport — the visa and SG Arrival Card are automatically visible in the system. Typically a very fast interaction: 60 to 90 seconds. You receive an e-Pass email notification with your authorized stay period. The stay permitted (usually 14 to 30 days) is at the officer’s discretion and may be less than your visa validity. If asked about your trip: name the specific attractions you plan to visit (Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, Sentosa, Orchard Road, Little India). Say how many days you are staying and that you have a return ticket.
Have These Ready at the Counter
- Passport (with valid Singapore e-Visa PDF printed in colour)
- SG Arrival Card confirmation (completed within 3 days before arrival)
- Return or onward flight ticket
- Hotel booking confirmation
- Sufficient funds (bank card or cash in SGD)

What Singapore Is Actually Like for Indian Travelers
Singapore hits differently once you stop comparing it to cheaper destinations. It is not trying to be Bangkok or Bali. It is the only place in the world where you can eat some of the best chicken rice on earth for Rs 350 at a hawker centre, walk to the world’s best airport, and be in Marina Bay in under 30 minutes. The visa takes a week and costs Rs 3,100 — the same as a decent hawker dinner for two people. Indians who go to Singapore once almost always go back. The city has figured out how to be simultaneously orderly and endlessly interesting. And Little India is, unexpectedly, one of the best places to be Indian outside India.

Do Indians need a visa for Singapore in 2026?
Yes. All Indian ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Singapore. There is no visa on arrival and no visa-free entry for Indians. You must apply in advance through an ICA-authorised visa agent. The government visa fee from 1 January 2026 is Rs 2,100 plus a Rs 1,000 agent service charge. Total minimum: Rs 3,100. Processing takes 3 to 5 working days.
How much is Singapore visa fee for Indians in 2026?
From 1 January 2026, the Singapore government fee is Rs 2,100 per application (non-refundable). On top of this, all authorised agents charge a fixed service fee of Rs 1,000. Total minimum cost: Rs 3,100. Some agents charge additional administrative fees — ask for a complete itemized quote before submitting. Express processing services (24 to 48 hours) cost more — typically Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000 total. Express is avoidable with early application.
How do Indians apply for Singapore visa?
You cannot apply directly at the Singapore High Commission or online through ICA yourself. You must apply through an ICA-authorised visa agent. Get the official authorized agent list from new-delhi.mfa.gov.sg (Delhi) or mumbai.mfa.gov.sg (Mumbai) or the relevant mission website for your state. Submit: Form 14A, 2 passport photos, confirmed return ticket, hotel booking, 6 months bank statements, salary slips, employment letter, and ITR for last 2 years. Pay Rs 3,100. Wait 3 to 5 working days. Receive e-Visa PDF by email.
Core documents: current passport (6+ months validity, 2 blank pages), old passports if available, 2 recent white-background passport photos (35x45mm), completed Form 14A, confirmed return flight ticket, hotel booking or Form V39A from Singapore host, last 6 months printed bank statements, last 3 months salary slips, employment letter on company letterhead, ITR for last 2 assessment years. Self-employed: replace salary slips with business registration documents and GST returns.
How long does Singapore visa take for Indians?
Standard processing: 3 to 5 working days excluding the day of submission, weekends, and public holidays. Some applications take 7 to 10 working days if additional documents are requested. Apply at least 30 days before travel per ICA guidelines. Do not book non-refundable flights before your visa is approved. Express processing through some agents claims 24 to 48 hours but costs significantly more and should only be used for genuine emergencies.
What is the Singapore tourist visa validity for Indians?
Visa validity and stay duration are two different things in Singapore. The visa itself may be valid for 30 days to 2 years depending on ICA’s assessment of your travel profile. First-time applicants typically receive 30-day single-entry visas. Frequent Singapore visitors with clean travel history may receive up to 2-year multiple entry visas. The authorized stay per entry (how long you can actually stay) is decided by the immigration officer at Changi — typically 14 to 30 days regardless of visa validity.
Can Indians get Singapore visa on arrival?
No. There is no visa on arrival for Indian ordinary passport holders at Changi Airport or any other Singapore entry point. You must have a valid Singapore visa obtained in advance through an authorised agent before traveling to Singapore. Exception: Indians transiting through Singapore for up to 96 hours may be eligible for the Visa Free Transit Facility (VFTF) if they hold a valid visa from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, Germany, New Zealand, or Switzerland.
What is the 96-hour Singapore transit visa for Indians?
The Visa Free Transit Facility (VFTF) allows Indians transiting Singapore to enter and explore for up to 96 hours without a Singapore visa — but only if they hold a valid visa from one of these 8 countries: USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, Germany, New Zealand, or Switzerland. You must have a confirmed onward ticket departing Singapore within 96 hours, and the qualifying visa must be valid for at least 1 month from entry. No application needed — just present the qualifying visa and onward ticket at immigration.
What is the SG Arrival Card and do Indians need it?
Yes. All visitors to Singapore including Indians must complete the free SG Arrival Card at eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard within 3 days before arrival. It combines your immigration details and health declaration, replacing the old paper disembarkation card. It is free and takes about 5 minutes. You receive a confirmation email — no QR code to print. Immigration sees it automatically when they scan your passport at Changi. Submit it even if you have a Singapore visa already approved.
Is Singapore safe for Indian tourists?
Singapore is consistently rated one of the safest cities in the world. Violent crime against tourists is extremely rare. Singapore has strict laws that are strictly enforced — you will not encounter the petty crime, scams, or transport overcharging that occurs in other Southeast Asian destinations. Common things Indians should know: chewing gum sale is restricted (possession is fine), jaywalking is technically illegal, smoking is prohibited in most public areas. These are enforced — know the rules. Singapore is welcoming to Indian tourists, particularly given the large Singapore Indian community.
