Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026. Effective immediately for all users of visaguideindia.com.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Freedom Media ("we", "us", "our") collects when you use visaguideindia.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and what choices you have. We are publishers of editorial content. We are not a visa agent. We do not collect passport scans, visa application data, or financial information for any visa processing.
1. Who we are
This Site is published by Freedom Media, an independent digital publishing company based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The data controller for this Site is Freedom Media. Privacy queries and data-rights requests can be sent to privacy@visaguideindia.com.
2. What we collect
We collect a deliberately small amount of information.
- Information you give us. When you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, and the message you sent. We do not ask for your passport details, date of birth, or financial information, and you should never include them in a contact message.
- Automatically collected information. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring URL, timestamp). This is the same kind of log every website on the internet keeps.
- Analytics events. Aggregated, anonymised data about which pages are popular, where readers come from, and roughly which country and city they are in (city-level only). This helps our editorial desk decide which guides to update first.
- Cookies and similar technologies. See section 4.
We do not run user accounts, we do not require login, and we do not collect newsletter signups at this time.
3. Why we collect it
We use the information above only for the following purposes.
- To respond to messages you send us.
- To understand which of our guides are most useful, so our editorial desk knows what to improve.
- To detect and prevent abuse, spam, and security threats.
- To meet legal obligations, including tax and accounting record-keeping for advertising revenue.
We do not sell your data. We do not rent it to data brokers. We do not use it to build advertising profiles ourselves.
4. Cookies and tracking
This Site uses three categories of cookies.
- Strictly necessary cookies. Set by WordPress and our caching plugin to make the site work. You cannot opt out without breaking the site.
- Analytics cookies. Set by Google Analytics or a similar service to count visits and understand traffic patterns. Analytics is configured to anonymise IP addresses where the platform supports it.
- Advertising cookies. Set by display ad partners (such as Google AdSense) to serve relevant ads and measure ad performance. These cookies are controlled by the ad network and are subject to their own privacy policies.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Doing so will not break the Site. It may make ads less relevant.
5. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of third-party services to operate this Site. Each one has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to read.
- Hostinger. Web hosting. Server-level access to traffic and logs.
- Cloudflare. Content delivery network and DDoS protection. Sees IP-level traffic data.
- Google Analytics (or equivalent). Anonymised visitor analytics.
- Google AdSense (or equivalent). Display advertising.
- FormSubmit or similar. Relays our contact form messages to our editorial inbox.
- Affiliate partners (e.g. travel insurance, forex card providers). They set their own cookies when you click an affiliate link, so they can attribute the sale.
6. When we share data
We share data only in the following limited situations.
- With the third-party services listed above, strictly for the purposes described.
- If required by law, court order, or a binding regulatory request from a competent authority.
- To protect our legal rights, prevent fraud, or investigate abuse.
We do not share, sell, or rent reader data for marketing purposes.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data protection law, including:
- The right to access the data we hold about you.
- The right to correct inaccurate data.
- The right to ask us to delete your data (the "right to erasure").
- The right to object to processing or restrict it.
- The right to data portability where applicable.
- The right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@visaguideindia.com. We respond within 7 working days, and complete verified requests within 30 days.
8. Data retention
- Contact form messages. Retained for 24 months in our editorial inbox, then deleted.
- Server logs. Retained for up to 30 days, then rotated.
- Aggregated analytics. Retained indefinitely in fully aggregated, non-personal form.
9. Children
This Site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, please email us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our practices evolve or as required by law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage for at least 14 days.
