The Bali e-visa has one of the shortest document lists of any visa available to Indian travelers.   Applied online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id. Apply 7 to 14 days before departure. The approved e-VOA is a PDF with your QR code , save to your phone and consider printing. This is your actual visa. Without it, you join the airport VOA queue (45 to 90 minutes peak season). With it, you use the automated e-Gates and clear in minutes.

  Paid at lovebali.baliprov.go.id (official site only , IDR 150,000, approximately Rs 780). You receive a QR code voucher. Scanned at a separate checkpoint after immigration clearance. Can also be paid at the BRI Bank counter in the airport arrivals hall if you did not pay online.

  Free digital form at arrivacard.imigrasi.go.id. Combines customs, health, and immigration details. Submit within 3 days before your arrival (not earlier). You receive a QR code that gets scanned at immigration. Mandatory since August 2025 , without it, you fill manually on arrival adding 15 to 20 minutes.

  Return or onward flight ticket

  Indonesia immigration expects proof you are leaving before your visa expires. A confirmed return ticket to India or an onward ticket to another country. Screenshot on phone is accepted but a printout is safer. Book it before you fly , trying to show a flexible or open-ended ticket raises questions.

  Your accommodation for at least the first night, shown on the arrival card. Booking.com or Agoda confirmation on your phone is fine. You need the hotel name and street address for the arrival card.

Getting the photo right (most important step)

Go to remove.bg on your phone or computer. Upload your existing passport photo. The tool replaces the background with white in about 10 seconds. Download the JPEG result. Zoom in on the corners and hairline , check there are no grey patches. Save as JPEG under 2MB. This single step eliminates the most common cause of Indian rejections.

Scanning your passport correctly

Download Adobe Scan or Microsoft Lens (both free). These apps handle document scanning far better than your regular camera app , they auto-correct perspective and enhance contrast. Open your passport flat on a hard surface in good daylight. Scan in document mode, not photo mode. After scanning, zoom in on the MRZ zone at the very bottom of the bio-data page and verify each character is sharp and individually readable. Save as JPEG or PDF under 2MB.
