How to Track Malaysia Work Visa Status

If your employer has applied for an Employment Pass on your behalf, the status is tracked through the Expatriate Services Division portal at esd.imi.gov.my. Your employer receives email notifications at each stage of the application. Once the Employment Pass is approved, your employer shares the Visa Reference Number (VRN) with you. You use the VRN to apply for the single-entry visa at the nearest Malaysian consulate in India. After arrival in Malaysia, you track your Employment Pass endorsement status through the same ESD portal using your application reference.

Checking MDAC Registration Status

After submitting your MDAC at imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main, verify it was registered correctly before your flight. Return to the site, click Check Registration, enter your passport number, nationality, and the PIN from your submission email. Your details should display. If they do not, resubmit immediately — do not wait until the day of travel.

Checking eVisa Status (If Visa-Free Expires)

If the visa-free policy expires and you need an eVisa, apply at malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my. After submission you receive a reference number. Check status using this number at the same portal. EVisa processing takes 2 to 3 working days. Apply at least 1 week before travel for safety.

Checking Work Visa / Employment Pass Status

Employment Pass applications are tracked by your Malaysian employer through the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) portal at esd.imi.gov.my. Your employer receives status updates. If approved, you receive the Visa Reference Number (VRN) to apply for the single-entry visa at the Malaysian consulate in India. You cannot self-track Employment Pass applications.
